I put a few laps in at COTA (literally only 6 total laps cuz no oil cooler
) back in 2013 and calculated <13 mpg including the 80 miles of highway round trip. So I'm sure pretty sure I was in single digits on the track.
But you're right ... the Z has pretty amazing gas mileage considering what it is. And especially compared to some other vehicles out there.
