Also, they can just stock 1 brand of oil. Maybe Mobil is not giving them a good price break on bulk and it doesn't say NISSAN.
I figure most of it is for $$$$ and some for marketing.
If we take the average, non-mechanical minded driver, and put two oil containers in front of them, Mobil 1 and the other NISSAN, they will most likely ask for the Nissan, just because it is made by the OEM.
Throw in the nifty Salesman ( which most service managers are now) and it will be easy to pitch whatever you are going to make lots of money on.
The $h*t they throw at people.

Actually, the R35 Uses mobil 1.

All other cars use OEM Nissan 0W-20 . why other dealers sell it for so much is beyond me. However the 370Z should still be using 5W-30 ,Motul 5W-30 will work just as good as the OE Stuff, which works just as good as Mobil 1.
if you are tracking your car it is very likely you are using on oil cooler so Mobil 1 Racing, Motul 300V, or Torco SR5-R will all work well. street cars will not see a difference.
However they probably screwed up, put the wrong oil and tried to cover it up. Next time don't let them talk you into keeping what they put in there. it's not your fault they made a mistake.
