I didn't think that Americans were that keen on hot hatchbacks?
More a European, and Canadian thing, from what I've always read.
And because your market isn't big enough to attract them over here, we lose out on most of them as well. Although we did get a few that you didn't, over the years (don't ask me to name any right now, though!).

It seems an odd market (a luxus hot hatch), but why not - if Maserati and Porsche can make an SUV, I guess it isn't any bigger stretch for Infinity to do a hatchback. The interview response was pretty non-committal, though.
