So I recency just installed the Nismo S-tune spring shock setup on my Z, and its the same setup that comes with the factory Nismo. The car felt much more positive but I wasn't happy either with the bouncy ride. What I did was put the sport springs back in the rear. Which helped with the bounce issue and the handling was not effected.
A good set of performance shocks are always a good improvement. The Nismo shocks are made by Tokico. The Koni yellows are not much better. in fact I had them on my GT Mustang and I didn't like them. Went to Bilstiens. which is a nice shock but a little pricey but they worked better with the car and the springs.
The right way to do it is have a performance shock builder re-valve the shock according to the spring rate you want to put in the car, but your talking some some bucks. and for a street car its just not worth it.
