I, too, would go ahead and change the trans fluid. Whether AT or MT, I like to change mine at 20-30k miles to get rid of any break-in junk. After that, I'll go 50-60k between changes (which, with modern lubes, is probably more often than necessary).

Changing the fluid on an MT is a pretty easy job - any weekend mechanic should be able to do it in a hour or so. Procedure is in FSM or see one of the DIYs on this site.

I don't have any experience with VLSDs but assume the same do-the-first-one-early-to-flush-the-break-in-junk principle would apply.
