Quick and Easy Z Logo Center Wheel Caps
Quick and Easy Z Logo Center Wheel Caps
Cost me about $78 (not including paint and clear coat)
So I saw that a member here did pretty much the same thing with his center wheel caps and it looked great!
This is a not a difficult mod by any means however the one thing that hung me up was Where to Find the Blank Center Caps for the Z. Very hard to search for “370Z Blank Wheel Caps”. However after searching for a while I discovered that there are other Nissans that have the same size center cap so I searched those. Here is a link to what I bought:
Dorman 909-091 Silver Center Wheel Cap Set of 4 for Nissan Altima Murano Sentra | eBay
Now in Ebay if I enter in my car’s build it says these caps are not compatible…. Don’t worry about it because it absolutely is compatible with your stock wheels! As an example the part number is Genuine Nissan Accessories 40342-AU511 Center Cap. This has the hamburger logo on it but you can search for that and you will see what other models use the same. The 350Z as an example is the same one. So the trick is to search for 350Z blank center wheel caps or or Murano or Altima, etc. and have faith they will fit because they 100% will.
Ok so the other part is our regular 370Z badge for the rear bumper, Order 4 of those. You will have four left over 370’s but dump them or do something else with them. The Z’s will stick right to the center cap. It is just slightly larger than the cap but the cap is flush with the wheel so it doesn’t get all messed up. Actually looks kind of neat up close.
Here is link for the emblems I bought. You can get them cheaper from China but I am incredible impatient!
1 - BRAND NEW 3D Self Adhesive Badge Emblem Logo fits 370Z CHROME Finish | eBay
For the center caps paint I used Dupli-Color Black chrome spray paint because I just had some left over (4 coats for this paint but less if you have just black) and then clear coat (3 coats).
To get the original center wheel caps off you can either take the entire wheel off and hit the back of the center cap with a screwdriver and it will pop right off or leave the wheels on and drill a hole in the center of the oem cap, jam something in there and pull it off. The Z will adhere to your new cap and it will all snap right into the wheel giving the wheel a look that Nissan should have done to begin with. (IMO) However when I found when you park and the Z caps are not horizontal it looks like an N.... I just tell myself that Nissan starts with N
I know some people hate to Over Z their cars but that hamburger is brutal. Plus the Z is an awesome logo and it is my car so I can do whatever I want with it!
