Thanks all. I can hardly wait to officially join the family by driving this beauty. I think I can manage the stick shifting, I'm just out of practice a bit. I notice the four way flashers are conveniently close to the gear stick. So I can do it in three smooth moves: stall, hit the flashers, throw it into first and try again. :-) Maybe an apologetic wave the the Mercedes on my butt.

I have had other manual cars but not for awhile. I had (whispers in shame) a Hyundai Pony, a Datsun, and a Fiat X19...and while the Pony and the Datson were diabolical, I didn't trash the clutch in any of them. The Fiat was utterly useless mechanically - but fun. Tons of fun...when it worked and bit of hoses weren't flying off in my face. It was my daily driver in the snowbelt for a couple of years. I must have been insane at the time. (but 2 guys could always lift it back on the road for me, it was light).
