Your Detailed Post- Excellent
I too am having problems with my 2010 370Z top not opening properly. The hatch doesn't open enough for the top to go in and it gets stuck. Fortunately its in my garage. Believe it is a hydraulic or motor problem. When I turn the my Z off the top will come down on its on by gravity. I can then start it back up and it locks properly. Last time I tried opening the top the hatch did not even open!
Your instructions were the most detailed that I have ever seen on the Z forums.
I just came across your post today 2/4/17. Will give it a go if I can get the hatch to open! Thanks for all your time and effort to help others.
A week before we went to visit our daughter and her family in Georgia my 370Z got the steering wheel lock. The boards, and YouTube had many videos showing how they worked around it but none of them worked for me. So in January when we returned I tried everything again. Even called Nissan North America There was Campaign Bulletin NTB13-014 saying that Nissan would pay for the new part and for the labor. Nissan said my VIN was not on the list. There have been 46 complaints to Nissan on this subject going back to 2010 and more recently Dec 2016. This affected 2009 Altima's Maxima's and 370Z' from2009-2011. Nissan stopped using the part in late 2011. Gave me a case number said I would have to go to a Nissan dealer and have them diagnose the problem Explained I would have to have my car towed as it would not start. Ended up buying a genuine Nissan part on eBay for $315.
Dealer wanted $799 for part $399 for labor and $150 to program the new part. I got the ESCL part off and put the new part on and my Z started right up no programming required. Same part was in the Altima's Maxima's and the 370Z.
