This was a pretty old post of mine that you quoted. Since then the kits have all been revised and include an external filter (hence the E added to the kit name).

So now the only extra step is having to remove the stock filter. If you check out my PDF on fuel pump modifications, there is a section specifically for that, so you can see the extra work for removing the stock filter.

It's not too bad, and I think it might have some potential other benefits such as increasing displacement in the fuel pump canister.
