First mistake: no 'shovel' snow..... push the snow out of the way. Unless you are Hulk Hogan, lifting and turning with a shovel is a great way to injure yourself (as you found out) or cause your gf to collect on your insurance... when you flop over from a heart attack...



Use the shovel like a mini-snow plow and push it out of the way. Yes it takes longer, but it is much easier on the body.
