Hmm, I've been having the same issue off an on over the past few months. But it's been happening more frequently recently. I have a 2013 370z 60k miles Roadster here. The car limped into the stealership while the issue was happening and they said they would hook it up to the diagnostic machine. There was no check engine light on at all and the symptoms were exactly the same, the tech guy took it for a spin to see what the issue was and he said he's not come across this issue before.
They hooked it up and I'm not exactly sure how they were able to determine this (since no check engine light was on) but they said "DIAG DTC P010B STORED DUE TO FAILED MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR BANK 2" They claimed that they took the sensor out and cleaned it and put it back in. Needless to say it worked all day then the next morning the same thing happened. It mainly happens when the engine is cold fyi.
The story they told me was that since I had K&N air filters in the car (the oiled kind) that oil had been sucked back into the mass air flow sensor and caused it to go bad. They charged me $97 for the diagnostic read and were wanting to charge me another $260 for a MAF and another $100 to flash my ECU with an update!
I was like err.. no, it's ok, I can replace the MAF myself, (since it's a piece of piss to install) and you can pick up a new Cardone MAF for around $160. So I got the part and am going to install today. But I'm not convinced that this is the issue.
I contacted Nissan consumer affairs to alert them of the situation as I got the feeling the stealership just want to get there money for the diagnostic, because had they not found anything they wouldn't have charged. In any case Nissan consumer affairs said they will cover the cost of the diagnostic.
I'll let you know how I get on once the new MAF is installed.
Cheers, and thanks for starting this thread.
