My Z also has soft touch everywhere, properly placed air vents, dial-controlled (also voice controlled) nav and stereo, plus plush knee braces.

Not by today's standards. We all have those spots you're talking about. Your microfiber in base cars have soft touch cloth. We all have the knee pad and that is a nice touch. But our door sills and dash top are outdated. ESPECIALLY for the price of our cars.

Then when we.get into cheap plastic
around the dash. It's extremely outdated. Our contours and colors leave to be desired.

The camaro isn't a perfect interior but the appointments on the doors, dash and sills are unquestionably higher quality. To not see that would be objectified fanboyism.

Nissa needs to get up to 2014 standards. Cuz it was 2014 when we saw a load of cars get this huge upgrade in interior materials. When the Z came out. Our materials were fine. As good as you can get on a sub-premium car. The touring was just the hey look I have leather too package. And that's fine for those who think power seats are necessary in a car with no back seats that can't recline. And a Bose stereo that's sounds like an RDS with extra bass that's distorted. For half the cost of the touring. I have a system that is concealed in my car but is Comp SQ. But I digress. To each his own. My point though is. The Z is not up to snuff in materials even if you compare interior quality to a Hyundai Elantra
Cars have moved up and we're stagnant. Nissan should want to make a better product... This isn't the 90's when Nissan had 5 sports cars to engineer and keep up to date. They have one real sports car and two GT cars. They have over a dozen bread and butter vehicles between Nissan and infiniti. It shouldn't be much to make these types of improvements even with low sales numbers. The Nissan bread and butter line up more than supports the corporate agenda.

And you can get microfiber on a camaro if you get a Z/28 which isn't out yet. N in case you didn't know. Microfiber is being used less in cars because it's been proven to wear badly.
