That's the unfortunate thing about service departments these days. They're operating as a second sales department and hawking stuff that people don't need.
In this case, I can't believe that Toyota has big enough balls to try and deny the warranty. The car was purchased in the US, therefore has a US warranty.
I used to own nothing but Toyotas. Never again. This just confirms it for me.
