I've never driven a car with EPS that I liked the steering feel. Electric steering units can be noisy as well. Check out the insulation that most manufacturers will put around the EPS to reduce/eliminate the cabin noise.

....And you are just replacing a pump with an electric motor, so I don't really see the logic for reliability. I believe most manufacturers go with EPS for fuel economy improvements.

I would probably not ever buy a car with EPS, but that is just my opinion.
