i think it is because you didn't get that additional throttle introduce by the rev-matching feature.

i personally would increase the throttle as the clutch engages and with that artificial throttle from the rev-matching, there'd be too much throttle and causes the car to lurch forward as the clutch engages.

it all kinda makes sense now.
