The closer to the end of the month, the more desperate they get. Especially if it was a low sales month or just a low volume in general of a specific model sold.
Personally, I'd wonder in and play stupid by saying you're looking to get something with "some" money down. Have them throw out a few numbers, play the waiting game and settle on a number you agree with. Then tell them you'll pay cash because of the price.
