For the drive back I went 80mph tops the whole way back ~260 miles, Clicking from time to time.

Got back and noticed this.
Axle Boot Torn

Is it possible If I replace the inner boot I can save the axle? Or I am S.O.L.? Is there any way to determine If i can save this axle? I really dont want to have to dish out 900$ for an axle
Based on the picture, that boot has been torn for a long time. There's rust on the spider of the CV joint. Time to pony up the $$$ for a new axle and call this a lesson in regular inspection of the underside of your car.

The other option is to sign the title over to me and deliver it by transport to KS. Anyone that would drive 80 mph with an unknown clicking noise in the rear end probably doesn't need to be driving anything more than an Escort....

You ever seen what happens to a car when a rear drive axle lets go?
