You can shift it into reverse while moving at highway speeds. The vehicle will act as if it is in neutral and will not actually shift into reverse. It MUST be an electronically controlled transmission (ECT) otherwise, you will cause MAJOR damage to the tranny. There are sensors that detect vehicle speed and there is a failsafe setup so that the tranny doesn't actually engage the reverse gear until a significantly lower speed.
