Microphone and Sirius/XM
Ok when I searched most of what I got was nope answers on reusing the factory microphone and Sirius antennae with an aftermarket radio. Both are perfectly compatible if you don't mind splicing wires together.
On the Sirius I just found where the plug was and cut off the plug side going to the radio then cut off the antennae on the aftermarket Sirius kit and connected the wires together. I soldered/shrink wrapped and taped it all and no problems at all with it.
As far as the microphone I just cut the red and black wires of it that attach it to the circuit board and connected them directly to the wires running from the microphone so I could use existing wires. I followed the wires down into the dash and spliced the aftermarket microphone wire/jack on there.
The GPS antennae I put under the dash on top of the center vents with double sided tape and get good reception still.
So now no extra stuff on my dash anywhere. The only clue my stereo is aftermarket is the head unit itself. Tweeters are under stock covers in plates. 6.5's in each door on plates. I have a roadster so half the trunk is foam which I removed and mounted all the amps there and built supports for the factory "floor" to sit a sub box on until I get custom ones made for behind the seats.
