Just trying to help out the community to see how many people are interested in a set of canards for the new 2015 Nismo bumper. I've been approached by several people but in a project like this I need people that are interested to commit as i'm just outing money to design and fab it out.
If there's enough interest, I definitely want to go and do some kind of crowdfunding to get help paying for some 3D printed prototypes and molds, etc. so I won't be deep in a hole for a product that isn't even for me.
Previously, I have designed the canards on my 2009-2014 Nismo 370z for track purposes. I took the time to laser scan my bumper, then 3D printed the part and then went into production.
So if there's enough interest, I'll start a crowdfunding project - otherwise i'm going to pass.
Inputs would be great...
- It'd be interesting to know if people here would want pure functional (bigger) vs. pure aesthetic (small) or both (like the one I designed for mine)
- Dual (1 on each side) or Quad Canards (2 on each side)?
- Material preference? (i.e. FRP - $, Wet layup CF - $$, Vacuumed Infused - $$$?)
- Cost? (Duals Canards will probably be around $250-400 for Vacuumed Infused CF, Quad will be more like $500+; as for the FRP and wet layup would be expected cheaper but won't be as nice in quality)
The design was based on this:
