There is something missing to me on the new cayman and 911. One of my buddies just picked up a 2014 911 and something just seems off riding in it and looking at it. I've never been a huge fan of the cayman, but have had a secret love affair with the 911 since childhood. I drove many when I was turning wrenches and always had a smile on my face doing so. Had a couple opportunities to buy, but to be honest was turned off by the owner base. My garage worked on a lot of high end cars ranging from early Bentley's to modern Ferrari's and by far the hardest customers to deal with was the Porsche guys.
To be honest I have yet to get behind the wheel of the cayman, they just seem to me to be the newest "poor mans porsche." Not that their cheap, but like the boxter, 914, 924 and so on porsche built them to get those with just enough income to become an owner. I guess you can say the same thing about many Z owners now, they want a GTR but can't afford one so the Z is the next best thing.
Back to the Miata, one of my guys at work just picked up the newest one. It is a mean looking little car. I don't know how it drives, but it's come a long way from it's bubbly disney cartoon looking grandfather.
