Default Does Nav Update DVD's fix bluetooth skipping?

Got a 2010. Its bluetooth hasn't been working right since 2012ish. Between unpairing/re-pairing multiple iPhones and now a Samsung Note 5, the audio when streaming music or while on a call keeps going in and out every second or so. I've read on this forum how the Nav update DVDs improved the bluetooth function for one user, and fixed it for another. Can anyone else confirm this? Currently it's going for $134 with shipping. Rather not spend that kind of money if it won't fix the bluetooth. I don't even use the Nav for directions anymore since Waze does a better job of traffic reporting and cop/camera locations.
Thanks.
