This is far from true. Multiple guys have removed their factory NAV and went aftermarket with no issues. Now a few guys have wired in the standard HVAC controls wrong but that was easily fixed.

The problem is that it's not a plug and play thing, you have to do re wiring and modifying harnesses in order to do it. This wouldn't be recommended unless you have good experience wiring or have somebody who will do it for you... other than a shop of course which will charge the **** out of you for it.

Not the only answer. I would suggest going after market. Better options for less money. Not to mention better sound.
I will agree 09 owners got screwed on the factory NAV. That's why I'm getting rid of my NAV system later this year.
