Initially, at least, I would not apply steam to the large plastic cover over the engine. On that area I'd start off with warm water and then, depending on results, use increasingly hot water. IMO, when it comes to expensive plastics, better to be safe than sorry.

Sorry, by all over I mean all over the metal areas like the strut bar mounting location and on the exposed metal areas in the bay. Oh, also on the rad mounting bracket area.
