Please report back how it goes.
If I were you, I'd start off steaming the coating on a painted metal part of the chassis to see how that goes.
Initially, at least, I would not apply steam to the large plastic cover over the engine. On that area I'd start off with warm water and then, depending on results, use increasingly hot water. IMO, when it comes to expensive plastics, better to be safe than sorry.
