Flames out the tailpipe are caused by a rich AFR which leads to hot, unburned fuel igniting when it hits air. You would, at the very least, have to remove the catalytic converter(s). Re-tuning, to run rich, might be required also.

Not sure I would label it as stupid but it's definitely not something I would recommend - especially for a DD.
