Okay, I assume your hands move around with the steering wheel when you are turning, correct? So you are taking them off the wheel or loosening your grip to hit the paddles which don't move around the wheel. It's not as far, but it's still movement.

I would say that comparing percentages, automatic and manual drivers crash just as much. It's a poor argument.
