I agree that it seems to only happen when it's cold outside, as I do not remember this from summer time. And I usually experience it when pulling out of my drive way to go to work in the morning when it's like below 40 degrees outside.
I also agree about the tires. This could definitely be the source of the problem. They suck in cold weather. I spin out too easily now in 1st gear.

They suck in cold weather because they are summer tires. If they are below operating temperature they are going to be slippery as hell... they are like hockey pucks in the winter. So if you insist on driving hard with them, be careful.
