Definitely check in with the dealer if you have some kinda of strange grinding noise on shifts w/ the 7AT. I don't see how that would even be possible, honestly.

Somewhat lurchy 3->2->1 downshifts are the norm on the 7AT if you leave it in 3rd or higher while you brake down to a stop, but there shouldn't be any accompanying funny sounds. Solution if you don't like the lurches is either pop it into neutral (you're stopping anyways) or downshift for yourself earlier on.

I've got almost 14K miles on mine now and I've rarely ever had it in D, and mine's holding up fine.
