I too thought my Nismo had kickass brakes. I am just coming out of the brake-in period so I have not done any hard driving yet - good thing.

The 370Z, including the Nismo, are both great STREET cars. Yeah, rightfully so, people are annoyed it overheats so easily. But, brakes are an obvious upgrade that should be considered mandatory before any track event...street pads just cant hold up like track ones can...same goes for the fluid of course.
FWIW, this is what can happen when you try to use street pads on a track.
The pads actually lit on fire, caused the caliper piston to seize in the full-out position, and then melted around the calipers piston. The fire ended up melting and rupturing the brake line, causing him to lose all fluid. Luckily, all this didn't happen until right after he got off the track, or it would have been devastating.
