Would I personally spend $6k on a car system now a days? No I would not. I'd spend $3k yes. Is the $7k a better sounding system? ? Yes, but just not worth it to me. Like most things, once you reach a certain point, you get a diminishing return the higher up you go. For instance a $3k system will sound really nice if properly put together. A $$7k system will will sound noticeable better but will it be 2x better sounding? No.. maybe just 1.25x better.. is that .25% better sound worth $4k extra?? Not to me when the $3k one will sound super nice already. If you think about it, it's like than slapping on a turbo kit. 15k and you gO from 280rwhp tO 500 rwh. Then you can build the block, bigger fuel pump, bigger injector and you get 700rwhp for $25k or something like that. Do you REALLY need 700 when 500 kicks Butt all day long?? No, but it sure is nice. However, nobody except you will know your sound system cost $7k and not $3k.. imo and ime, you can't tell that the most expensive system sounds better unless you are side by side to a $3k system.

Edit: As you can see from the above example, an audio system on the high end is even a worst investment than boost. At least with boost, you don't really get much of a diminishing return,at least not till you get closer to 1k rwhp. And you can actually feel the big difference when you press the pedal.
