Yupper.. its a hoot. Think about it. In 1st your usually at a stop. That means the turbo is hardly spinning as it is only get idle exhaust. You wot to 7k and she is spinning like a mad hatter. You put it into next gear (sold be like 6000 ish) and wot again. There was what? 1 sec between to reduced exhaust to spin her which means it's instantly makes boost.
Now let's say you are just putting along and drive normally. Your in 1st, change gear to 2nd. I change gears at 3200 rpm in just about every gear. This means the turbo is already spinning a good amount. Not enough to make boost buy not far from it. So if I happen to drop into 2nd (it would drop to about 2300 ish revs) and give her 1/3 throttle, I would make boost just about instantly. 500 revs or so and bam! Break boost threshold due to the fact that it's already spinning a good amount.
