Many people are concerned about oil temps but many people run their temps too low. The old racer's adage is "Cool water and hot oil makes more power."
the hotter the oil, the thinner it is. So you get less frictional resistance. The other thing is combustion creates a lot of by products that get into the oil, water being a big one. Water and sulfur (another combustion by product) combine to create sulfuric acid which eats metal. Getting your oil temp above 212F boils off the water. In addition, modern oils are very robust as to temperature. Conventional oils are stable up to and around 270F and synthetics are good up to and above 300F. So oil temp is a good thing and you don't need to worry (as much) about higher oil temps. In fact you need to get it up regularly.
