Obviously I know very little about this subject, but wouldn't modifying the 370z engine bay be much cheaper than developing an entirely new platform?

And just give the thing a face lift and you're done. Sounds easy to me (relative to developing a completely new car).
a. turbos, air-water intercoolers on top of the block, piping....its a size/layout issue aka nightmare. it would be a way easier task if you wrote a letter to the heads of nissan and say drop the vk56 in there since that actually fits.....somewhat.

b. the current Z is now in it's 8th model year......it's tired. it's time to move forward. new look, new engine, updated tech.
