1. Check your pinion depth after the backlash is set.
2. paint 4 teeth and rotate 3-4 times.
3. check your tooth pattern, This will tell you if you need shims.
if the contact pattern is off, shims need to be added or removed to achieve the proper pattern.
with that being said, I wouldn't just throw it in there, and hope for the best.
Or go off what other people are saying.
Your tooth pattern tells all.
I was told that my diff didn't need shims, once we had it back together, it needed shims, my tooth pattern was way off.
