For the same reason the rest of us aren't mods. We haven't applied, and AK wants people who aren't just going to screw around. Give him time and he'll pick someone.
Just keep alerting AK when spam posts come up.
Quite a few of us are on the site all day long so just report stuff and AK will notice I'm sure.
