Killing the power to the ECM is what I would consider an all-else-has-failed option. As per Chuck33079, any DTCs will be cleared, plus, the ECM will have to relearn the engine and the emissions system will not pass until you have made several trips.

It doesn't hurt anything, so give it a try if you like. But grab the DTCs before you do.
