My most expensive paper weight ever
So, after much consideration and thought I decided to go with a COBB AP for my engine management needs, originally I was going to buy from the guys at AAM, they were very very helpfull and always got back to me etc, plus cut a great deal, I could not purchase from them as my car fund is based of a UK CC, i.e. non USA based.
So I sourced my AP directly from COBB , now I realizse that the tables are limited but I wanted a head start on learning my vehicles ECU control.
So I thought I could at least get my WBo2 set up and start to adjust the vehicle to fine tune my own 'base map', then as the defs are released which enable more control variables I can just update firmware and tuning software accordingly, easy enough right?
Well, my AP would not install... no biggie, assumed a dongle or firmware issue, up loaded all the latests revs, still no good, contacted COBB (very helpfull) did some analitical stuff over the phone....
Long story short, my ecu is one of the 'unseen' before coded roms, and hence needs adding to the mix in terms of development, time line,,,,,,, FEB 10at the earliest.
So, I have a nice 600+ dollar paper weight on mydesk and am no closer to the engine managment I wanted.
NB - this is not a slate at COBB or the AP - I do like the products and have a lot of experience with COBB and there outlets, tuners, how ever I am surprised I can purchase a unit that will not function at all on the vehicle it was sold for........
Before it gets asked, yes I did consider UPREV but wanted an easy install / de install option and I am already used to COBB based software, I have used license based ECU reflashed previously and taking them off can suck.
Just a pre warning dudes.....
Happy Holidays
