Was working on my audio install, everything from the head unit, axxess, reverse camera, two speakers, amps and all wires in, plus completely insulated the car covered in second skin products.
HU turned on - reverse camera worked great, was planning on doing the axxess manual setup until I saw the amp wasn't powering on. Long story short - about 3 hours of playing with different things. I couldn't figure out why the amp wasn't powering up... on the last attempt to power up I gave up started getting frustrated and impatient and that's when I left the negative cable in to play with the wires while power is going through. Got desperate and wanted to double check the voltages. Pulling the remote wire out I rubbed the ground wire I think and that's when it sparked and killed everything.
Next I checked the fuses by the battery and by the feet - the feet had a 10A fuse designated for Audio/Mirror that was the blown fuse.
I haven't checked the big fuse box under our engine yet, was out there until midnight and in 30º weather just finally called it a night. It's hard to work on it during the day given I do 7am-7pm type of work on the usual. I'm thinking of taking off midday today to get some daylight work on it.
Now that I fixed that fuse I figured let me start the car and that's when I found out of a new issue - it won't turn over. Starts like it's going to turn on and lets a normal growl then dies. I have enough time maybe like 2-3 seconds of gas pedal play to feed it but dies in the process. Could it be the battery - when I checked it's voltage it was ready at about 11.8v. I did play with the car several times trying to turn this amp on so it wouldn't surprise me if the battery needs to be charged but still would it not allow it turnover like this? Could it be anything else being since I just did some electrical no-nos...
Any ideas are appreciated thanks...
