Hi guys, This happened this past Saturday
OK so here is the break down, I had lots to go through: 12 sheets and dyno changes.
First super Thanx and Props to the shop and the owner Dave, and Chris dyno tech @ ESP In Sterling, MA, An of Course Seb from Specialty-Z!! Everyone was GREAT!
Ok So I got there about 10 AM to start strapping the car down setting up my laptop and to go over a few small things. First hiccup I had was a I loaded Seb’s tune in early that morning and was going to get a few log on my way to the dyno but damn laptop died.
So when I go to the shop I tried to reload my old tune and get a base pull on that to compare to my last run there to show any gains by just adding headers. So I couldn’t switch off map 1 and on my old tune map 1 was my kill, so I couldn’t even start the car :/. So I put Seb’s tune back on reset the ECU, did an ECUTEK update and go ready.
We started our first pull at 11:30 AM and finished at 2:26PM (Shop closes @ 1pm) So Dave the owner and Chris stayed for an extra 1.5 hours! Thank you.
Ok and need to add this also, All these numbers are going to look very different from my previous numbers as Seb had us change the load on the machine as it was set to HIGH, the load was set to 4000, which Seb said it was like the car driving up a steep hill. So we moved it down to 2500 which what good with Seb as that’s probably where is to be,( I understand nothing about the load or HP@60 formula) .
ALL the below numbers are actual and there was no correction, ALL my previous runs had correction factors. Reason this was change as the load was changed. Time between pulls was about 5-8 Mins.
1St Pull ”Base tune” was 269 WHP and 214 WHP TRWQ and the car was pulling “crazy” timing, from there was made a total of 10 tuning Pulls. In the middle I got to flash back on my “old tune and get a run in. Seb worked on making changes over the next 2 HRS and we ending up with a final number of 285 WHP and 225 WHTQ!! What a difference.
In the middle I got to run my old tune with the heads ( Tune was not for Headers) and that was only 273 WHP and 218 WTRQ pull. Sheets below will reflect these numbers.
Anyways here are the sheets,
Sheet 1 will be my base pull on Sebs tune,
Sheet 2 will be my “old tune”, with headers .
Sheet 3 will be my final numbers.
Sheet 4 will be one last run at the at the 4000 load to compare against my no headers pull. Gain of 10 WHP and 3 WTRQ
Sheet 5 is my previous ECUTEK tune with no headers Vs Current tune with headers. All number are actual, no corrections
Would I do headers again? Yes If I just look at the numbers of my “old” tune with headers 273WHP and 218 WTRQ and the final number were 285 WHP and 225 WTRQ, Gains of 12 WHP and 7 WHTQ! Overall the car feels very, very different. But the real test will be the track this spring and to see if I get better than 13.5@105MPH . Again much appreciation to Seb and the shop!
There is one thing I can’t wait to try and that’s Seb’s Throttle hi-jack, I also us AUTO guys to break TWRQ and if you have a RWD it will allow you to do a burn out !!
“throttle hi jack when VDC is OFF. It will allow you to left foot brake and throttle at the same time so you can launch. It will also allow one to do a burnout (at least in RWD cars)”
