You'd be correct. The dynamic vectoring on the WRX would get you to point A/B without such a harsh riding quality like the STI. For example take the Nismo Z vs the touring. One is raw and meant for the track. The other can be used for daily purposes with creature comforts.
The 40 extra HP in the STi is negligable. I've yet to see any of my buddies 4 WRX's get stuck, slide, or slip through heavy snowfall on stock all-season tires. I have seen a STI take a few moments to get going because of the 3 LSD thing. Pros and Cons to both. But don't just assume the highest trim is better than the middle. For you, personally. I'd go WRX. Especially with your ankle.
