Both situations, you're talking about going a RIDICULOUS speed on public roads though...90 for you, 70-80 for the other guy. No, 70-80 isn't necessarily terrible, but performing a maneuver like the one he did is stupid. Either way, it sounds like driver error to me, and just general stupidity - particularly on your buddies part. Traveling that kind of speed without any idea whats in front of you (ESPECIALLY in the damned middle east - drivers over there are freaking retarded. Ask me how I know.) is just ASKING for trouble.

Furthermore, I think its worthy saying - if you try to steer your car like that at the speeds you were going because of nothing more than a cat? Well...you're asking for trouble, too, and I'd never trust myself to drive in a vehicle with you.
