Wrap vs. paint is actually significantly different, especially when you do it yourself. It's not as hard as people make it out to be but time consuming for those who don't have experience or training.

A crappy paint job may be comparable to a wrap done by a shop but don't even bother doing that. If you go paint, do it right. And doing it right will cost you money.

My opinion on two tone is don't do it. But to each their own.
