I own a 2010 with the NAV system so I am posting this from experience (Read Below):
>>>>>Should I get the OEM Nav system?
Simply put once bought you are stuck with this head unit, there is no changing it out no adding on a head unit nothing. Everything is integrated into the factory nav from your climate control system to your headlights. You may be able to bypass the parking brake safety system or add a rear camera but that is about it. If you think you are going to want more options or a new head unit stay clear from this.
ABOVE POST FROM BIGAUDIOFANAT (NOT HATING ON YOU HOWEVER THIS INFORMATION IS FALSE)-For all of you whom have read the countless posts about the NAV system being non replaceable and that everything is integrated so its non removable, that your stuck with the system.......this is FALSE.
I have successfully removed my 2010 NAV system and replaced it with a Pioneer Double DIN (See Below), I am also using the factory Bose system with my Amp. I am also not using any form of LOC, I eliminated this with the new head unit........There is nothing distored or wrong with the sound, it sounds amazing and yes Audio Companies will tell you that you need to buy new speakers however this is an upsale game to make you buy a new set of speakers. I do agree while yes there are tons of aftermarket speakers that sound much better, Pioneer, Focal etc... I am currently pushing them though an amp as I am not ready to make the next upgrade to my system however the system straight out rocks, is crystal clear and sounds overall ******* amaizing, why upgrade the speakers I don't see a need to at the moment!!!
All my steering wheel controls work. The Pac Steering wheel controller did the job. 0 % Loss
Yes I do agree that I have a few features not available such as adjusting the temp via a touch screen, or seeing what street i am on, but no loss of my headlights etc... So that is really irrelevant.
Another Post about the Nav System Replacing..... Again FALSE
No the nav wiring has been put in the car with the nav and they will not include that stuff for a future install. Nor would it be worth it to install it now. If you even did have enough money to do such an upgrade it would not be worth it as you would also have to install the crappy bose system for the nav to work as well as find somehow to have a antenna for the nav. It would be 100 times batter and more worth it to just get an aftermarket one. The aftermarket head units can be controlled threw the steering wheel controls.
Not Correct
Their are to many things that you would have to do to even think of upgrading to the stock nav system.
>>> Added Pigtail and New non Nav AC Amplifier..... Thats all
I have full major functionality of the Z with NO NAV SYSTEM installed, end of debate.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
