During cool start ups sometimes I hear a screeching noise. Every time I take it to the dealer to diagnose they me tell me I need a new clutch. I have already replaced the clutch at 17,500 miles because it was slipping. The service manager at the dealership said it was because I was riding the clutch which I never do. I went ahead and had the clutch and fly wheel replaced with a stage 2 competition clutch and flywheel. The noise never went away. I took a back to the dealer to insist that the noise was not coming from the clutch since I had it replaced. Their reply was yes it was the clutch and they want to charge $3000 for a new one without even dropping the transmission to check it out. They are going by sound and burnt smell. I don't even have 13000 miles on this new clutch and flywheel. Any idea what this noise might be coming from the engine bay? Do you guys think it is a clutch transmission problem? Like I said it only happens during start ups the car feels fine otherwise. Should I even worry about it?

Thanks
Clutch should only squeal if its engaged or being engaged (So i thought), sounds more of a belt or like Falcon said the AC compressor could be burning out since they say they smell burning.

OP I live in Aurora (assuming you're in the Montgomery by Aurora), If I may ask what dealer you take it too. I've noticed North aurora guys are less than helpful and communicative when it comes to my Z...

Next time your out and about perhaps we can meet up and have another Z owners opinion since your not too far
