I think you are confusing your terms.
Surround sound means four or more speakers getting different signals - there are four or more discrete channels. Left-front and left-rear will not be playing the same thing (if using a surround source). CDs are not surround. SACDs and DVDs can be.
Most car setups are
stereo with two sets of speakers - front and rear. LF and LR get the same music - although there may be some processing (eg, delay, equalization) going on.
I didn't stream music when I had my Z but assume the rear speakers will play - stereo, not surround.
