believe it or not, I had my factory speakers amped prior to my full audio build.... 100 watts rms, and they sounded quite good. I'm pretty sure your Kenwood head unit is in no way overpowering them. ( I'm not sure how long they would have lived, however)
I do however recommend changing your speakers for better sound quality..... Let's talk budget.
