I'd just like a real explanation as to why, not just a hunch, given we have some pretty solid information available to us right now to get a pretty close estimate to what a "well-equipped" M2 should cost. Namely the base price ($51k) and the options list.

Based on the options list, and using BMW's pricing with the M3/M4 options suite, we are likely looking at only $3-6k ($3,200 Executive Package, possibly the $1,700 driver assistance package) in options to consider the car "well-equipped," which tells us it will be under $60k easily.

What I am more interested in is what happens to the price of the M240 (now M235). If the M2 is starting at $51k and comes with the standard features listed in the two images above, then BMW must be planning to reduce the price of the rest of the 2 series line. They can certainly do it given the Euro weakness and dollar strength.

We'll see.
