I agree. I don't think we've seen any good photographs of what "Quartz" will actually look like.
Also, the 1,000 limited number mentioned by the OP...I wonder if that's just for the US or the entire world.

The 1000 is for the North America only. It's stated above and also in the catalog I received in the mail; I have been getting rumors that some dealer's already taking pre-orders for these. I don't know if they'll sell like hot cakes...to me personally, 1000 is not a lot....but I do hope I'd get to physically get to see one before my purchase. With an economy like this, I want to doubt it'd sell like hot cakes; in a way, i know it's just Nissan's alternative way to boost more sales and markup by calling it a special edition...just like the NISMO's 350 & 370Z, they call it LIMITED so people would rush to buy it and pay full retail MSRP price - but last time I checked, even with all the hype....there's still plenty of 1st hand cars sitting around in the dealership waiting to be sold, but of course you'd have to wait and can't be one of the first to own one, also, you'd have to take the risk of not owning one once it's sold out - which I'm not sure I'll willing to do.
I DO think it's a big deal that Nissan made it to 40 years with the Z, and I think they should celebrate it....but at the same time, I just hope there's enough 40th anniversary's around for everyone to make a better deal than to only to pay for full MSRP price (not to mention some dealership sells it for even more than MSRP for markup just because it's limited - kinda like the 2001 Acura Integra Type R).
Also, like you said, I really think we need to see more pictures of the Quartz color...I mean I may not need to see all the other features in person as they're already up on the web and i don't think they'll look much different in person....but the body color...I don't want to be one of those people that orders a $40k+ after tax car out without actually knowing the color is really what I want. What I do know for sure is, that Quartz graphite color shown in the Japan's Nissan Website looks light PURPLE (almost lavender) to me and I know for a fact, that's not what I want. Unless they're trying to promote a girl to own it.
