Crazy. But not surprising. The US is full of different cultures.
This is why I love Austin. I can go to a very classy (and stupid expensive) French restaurant here in town wearing shorts and sandals and receive the same service and respect that the suit attired businessmen are getting at the next table. I tip better than them, too
